Slough Borough Council is conducting a campaign to receive fair funding for its growing population. Government statistics say Slough has the second fastest decreasing population in the country which the council is strongly refuting.
Official statistics are inadequate to measure migration to the town accurately. As a consequence the government does not recognise our population growth and is not funding the council appropriately. The council could lose as much as £15million up until the next census in 2011 which is putting unsustainable pressure on services.
As part of the campaign, Slough Borough Council has now held two seminars at the London Councils offices (formerly the Association of London Government) in order to investigate the issue. Presentations and quotes from the speakers at each seminar are available below.
