The Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) is a new test for assessing the performance of local government. It replaces the previous system of Comprehensive Performance Assessment. More details about CAA can be found at the audit commission's website.
CAA combines the views of 6 independent inspectorates to create a single view of an area. It looks at what a council and its partner organisations (like the Police and the Primary Care Trust) want to achieve on important local issues, such as safety and people’s health, and how they are working together. It also assesses the prospects for improvement.
CAA has 2 main elements:
The CAA results for Slough are available on the oneplace website.
In the area assessment, Slough is 1 of only 6 authorities in the southeast to be awarded a green flag. This was awarded for work we do with partners to improve skills. Red flags are given if there are areas of concern - no red flags were given to Slough.
The organisational assessment says the council is improving things for people in Slough. Overall it says Slough Borough Council delivers most of its priorities well and manages its money and other resources adequately. The organisational assessment is scored and overall we were awarded 2 out of 4.
