To provide excellent customer services is integral to the council achieving its vision and priorities.
Since MyCouncil opened in October 2005, customer service has improved considerably at the council, with the call centre team now in the top 50 call centres in the country. MyCouncil was shortlisted from 5,000 applicants in the Call Centre Focus Magazine’s top 50 initiative.
Customer satisfaction figures show a 14 per cent increase in satisfied customers, since the centre opened. In addition 81 per cent of residents say they are satisfied with the final outcome of their contact with staff (Source: Annual Attitude Survey 2007).
Before MyCouncil opened, there was an average of 32,000 visitors per year, with waiting times of several hours and for a limited service. Now there are around 65,000 visitors per year receiving a full service and with an average waiting time of around 30 minutes.
The call centre receives over 200,000 calls a year. This was a new service introduced when MyCouncil opened.
