Pay council tax
There are several ways you can pay your council tax.
Direct debit
This is the preferred method of payment for council tax - it keeps costs down for you and for the council, which keeps council tax increases to a minimum.
It also means no cash to carry about, no queuing to pay and a choice of 3 payment dates each month: the 1st, 15th or 25th.
You don't need to remember to pay your bill each month as the payments are made automatically. Below you will find a council tax direct debit form to download and complete.

Online payments
You can pay your council tax through our online payments system, if you have a debit or credit card. You can make regular or one-off payments 24 hours a day. When you pay, please have the following details ready:
- your council tax account reference number
- your payment details and;
- your debit or credit card details.
Please note: there will be a 1.5 % charge made for using your credit card.
Payment card
Your payment card can be used to pay by cash or cheque at any post office in the country or our customer service centre. These payment cards have proven to be a great success - but don't forget the cards are designed to last for at least 3 years and you will not be sent a new one with this year's bill. If you lose your card please contact us to order a new one.
Automated telephone payments
You can pay by debit or credit card, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 0845 303 9488. You will need to have your council tax account number and card details to hand.

Telephone/online banking
You can pay your council tax by phone or online banking using the following bank details:
- Sort Code: 08-90-16
- Bank Account No: 61038422
Please make sure you quote your council tax reference number when making a transaction.
Important
Please remember: if you are not paying by direct debit, instalments are due on 1st of each month and so you should make sure payments are made prior to that date.
Also, remember:
- if you pay at the post office your payment can take up to 5 days to reach us
- if paying by cheque, please make it payable to "Slough Borough Council" and include your account reference number on the back of the cheque
- if we don't receive your payment on time, we will send you a reminder notice. The council is only legally required to send 1 reminder before starting court proceedings. If court proceedings are taken against you, costs of the action will be charged to your account.
