Slough Borough Council (SBC) believes in the importance and value of work experience and how this can play a key role in helping you develop an understanding of the world of work. Work experience will give you an insight into what working is really like and will also help you think about what options are available to you when you leave school, college or university.
Slough Borough Council works closely with Learning to Work to deliver the work experience programme to school pupils within Slough.
We also welcome work experience requests from school leavers, college or university students and graduates.
SBC is a local authority and is one of the largest employers within Slough.
We are a huge service provider and we are responsible for providing a range of services within the borough from education, environmental health, highways and planning, refuse and waste, to housing and economic development. With all of the different services we provide there is a wide choice of departments you could get involved with and learn about.
School pupils are limited to 5 day placements and we encourage placement managers to allow pupils to experience a full working day of 7.5 hours.
College and university students may be offered longer placements dependent upon their course requirements.
If you have an enquiry or wish to apply for a placement, please complete the online enquiry form.
We encourage school pupils to seek term-time placements via Learning to Work.
Please note: For work experience placements within a Slough school, please contact the school directly.
