Youth Work Apprenticeship

This could be your first step into a career working with young people who want to achieve a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate Youth Work Practice.

Slough’s Young People’s Services have four vacancies available. You will gain experience of youth and community work, whilst receiving a training allowance. All applicants must be Slough residents.

Breakdown of the scheme

The scheme:

  • is a full time role (37 hours)
  • will include some evening and weekend work
  • lasts for 52 weeks
  • commences 11 September 2017. 

The successful candidates will be asked to sign a fixed-term contract.

Following a comprehensive induction, you will be placed with a team in our Young People’s Service who will manage the work element of your training placement, and support you to gain a wide range of youth work experience.

Those who need assistance with their Maths, ICT or English, will attend classes at our premises once a week to support you with numeracy, IT and literacy skills. There are also a wide range of corporate training courses for you to attend for the duration of your apprenticeship, which are all designed to maximise your work and life skills.

To make sure you develop your skills and progress with your apprenticeship, meetings will be arranged every two months with the learning co-ordinator and your line manager. This is your opportunity to talk about your progress and if you are meeting your own personal targets towards the Certificate framework.
