A walk around historic Slough
Thursday 11 September, 11am-1pm
We are celebrating this year’s Heritage Open Days with an event called A Walk Around Historic Slough.
Often seen as a place with no history, Slough is packed with buildings and stories that show its fascinating past. Starting at Slough Library and finishing at Slough Museum, this walk takes in the once small villages of Upton & Slough and shows how they became the town we know today. We will also see the former workhouse, a Georgian house once lived in by William Herschel, the man who discovered Uranus, and the medieval buildings run by the medieval monks and dismissed by Queen Mary.
The walk will take about 2 hours.
