If your first language is not English, the library has a range of resources and activities which you may find useful.
Whether you want to learn English, read books in your own language, attend events, or find out more about your ancestors, the library has something for you. The links below can get you started.
Books
- Baby names – you can borrow books with listings of baby names from all our libraries, including Muslim and African names. The biggest selection is at Slough Library based in the family history section on the 2nd floor (More about our information books).
- Tracing ancestors – Slough Library has books giving advice on how to track down your ancestors from around the world, including the West Indies and mainland Europe. (See Family History section for more details.)
Newspapers and magazines
Slough Library keeps magazines and newspapers in Arabic, Chinese, French, Gujarati, Hindi, Polish, Punjabi and Urdu.
Courses for improving your English
You can pick up listings of courses from colleges and other training and educational organisations in the local area from 2nd floor of Slough Library. Some courses are also held at Slough Library.
