Members noted the Annual SACRE report for 2016-2017.

Ashpreet Singh Nainu suggested that it would be helpful to also include the exam results data for Maths and English in the Annual Report to compare performance with the data for Religious Education (RE) in the future.

The exam results data for RE, Maths and English would be included as an agenda  item for discussion at a future meeting.

It was noted that training in respect of the changes in the Agreed Syllabus and additional support should be provided for RE Co-ordinators and RE teachers in schools. Brian Crisell, SACRE Advisor, suggested he was in the process of developing a database of RE Co-ordinators and once completed, could be used to offer targeted support and training. Work was on-going as response from Head teachers requesting confirmation of their RE Co-ordinators had been slow. A further reminder was would be sent to those that had not responded.

Resolved that:

i)  The Annual SACRE report for 2016-2017 be agreed.

ii)  Arrangements be made for the Annual Report to be submitted to the Department for Education (DfE) and the National Association of Standing Advisory Councils on Religious Education (NASACRE).
