The Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 removed the requirement for best value authorities to compile and publish an annual Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP).
But there still is a requirement on authorities to publish details of their outturn performance against Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs) for the preceding year. This can be found below.
As of 1 April 2008 BVPIs are being replaced with the new National Indicator Set. So performance from 2008/09 will be covered by these new arrangements.
Local authorities are also required to certify in their BVPP outturn report that individual contracts entered into in 2007-2008 comply with best value requirements. This includes workforce requirements in the code of practice and the accompanying statutory guidance. You can find this code of practice below.
