In 2001, the government set out its plans for online local government and local e-government targets. Councils were required to produce an annual statement on implementing electronic government - the IEG statement.
Slough’s early work on developing this local e-vision was developed in partnership with Deloitte and Touche and was set out in detail within the first IEG Statement.
In 2002, councils had to provide the government with 'evidence of actions' taking the e-government agenda forward. Councils had to have a realistic plan of action and expenditure to meet targets for e-government by the 31 December 2005 deadline. This was set out in the second Implementing Electronic Government Statement (IEG2).
In 2003, the council formed a strategic partnership with Unisys. We have ambitious plans which will make a real difference to people’s lives. Our targets focus on transforming customer services. Enabling customers to deal with a range of queries or problems in a single contact is one of these targets.
The council’s evolving plans and progress are set out in our Implementing Electronic Government statements, the last one of which (IEG6) was published in April 2006.
