Statement of accounts & budgets

Each year we publish our statement of accounts. This has a review of the year and our detailed financial statements for the year April 1 to March 31.

The council’s accounts for the year ending March 2008 were signed off by our Auditors on 30th September 2008. A copy can be downloaded below.

The main statements are:

the Income and Expenditure Account which shows all the council’s spending and income by services and also how additional income is received
the Balance Sheet which shows the value of assets and liabilities held by the council
the Cash Flow Statement which shows actual money received and issued during the year

Also included are supplementary statements as below:

the housing revenue account which shows income and expenditure on council housing
the collection fund which shows receipts from council tax and business rates and how this money is distributed

The statements are accompanied by introductory information and a glossary to explain the terms used.

For 2007/08 Group account statements have also been included for the first time which show the Council’s subsidiary, People 1st accounts within the group statements. People 1st was set up to manage and improve the Council’s housing stock.

Budget book

The annual budget is integral to the council's overall strategic planning framework. It is set in the context of the medium term financial plan and the council's priorities. The budget book can be found below.
