Burnham Station permanent scheme layout.

What

Following the introduction of Phase 1 and 2 of the Burnham Station experimental traffic scheme, the council is now concluding the experimental consultation and the introduction of permanent measures will be subject to cabinet approval.

Furthermore as part of the wider improvement works that include the Five Points junction and the following junctions along the A4:

  • Station Road
  • Burnham Lane
  • St Andrew’s Way
  • Huntercombe crossroads will be upgraded as part of the A4 cycle route scheme.

We are now consulting on specific measures around Burnham Station public realm and these include:

  • Introduction of a 20mph zone on Station Road from Stanhope Road to Burnham Lane and from Burnham Lane (Shell Petrol Station) to its junction with Haymill Road.
  • Two new Zebra crossings on Burnham Lane near Burnham Station and 66-68 Burnham Lane.
  • Traffic calming outside the station entrance on Station Road.

Why

The aim is to provide safer access for pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable users to and from Burnham Station, reduce congestion on Burnham Lane and the triangle for the benefit of local residents.
