Chaperone licence

A child taking part in a performance, which can include TV or filming, theatre, sporting activities or modelling, must be chaperoned, either by their parent or a registered chaperone. Registered chaperones are licensed by the local authority in which they live.

To apply for a chaperone licence you will need to request an application pack from Services to Schools on 01753 875729 or by email: childemployment@slough.gov.uk.

During the application process you will be required to submit details of referees from whom references will be sought. You will also be required to obtain a Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, a copy of which will be sent directly to you.

Once you have completed your application form and the CRB Disclosure has been received, please contact us on 01753 875729 for an appointment to come in to the office where we can verify and take copies of relevant documentation.

Please note, this process can take time, particularly at peak times of the year such as before Christmas and it is necessary to apply for your licence in good time. Whilst every effort is made to process all applications as quickly as possible, please ensure that your completed forms arrive at least six weeks before the licence is required. It is not possible for unlicensed people to act as chaperones.

Your licence will be valid for 2 years. To renew your licence please request the application pack at least six weeks prior to the date your licence expires.
