Procurement Policy

The council’s procurement vision is to obtain best value through planned, responsive, professional, well managed, sustainable procurement that contributes to achieving the council’s priorities and meets the needs of the community.

The key objectives of our procurement policy are:

To provide corporate focus of the overall direction and vision for procurement within the council.

To ensure all procurement carried out by the council is based upon following principles: accountability, transparency, continuous improvement and fair competition.

To ensure procurement supports the council’s corporate plan and delivery of the following key priorities:

To assist the council in achieving best value for money through effective and efficient services that balance cost against community benefits
To develop staff skills and provide training on efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement activity
To provide an overview of the procurement action plan (see appendix A). This has been developed mapping the way forward on improving the council’s procurement activity
