Slough is a vibrant and culturally diverse town. Slough Arts Development supports individuals, artists, community groups, designers and creative enterprises. Developing arts and creativity is about joining in, learning new skills, finding a voice, growing in confidence, making new friends and having fun.
The arts in Slough embrace cultural diversity in projects, community events, performances, public art and workshops. Artists and audiences enjoy, learn and celebrate the visual arts, crafts, music, dance, drama and literature through traditional and new media.
The arts offer opportunities for all ages and social divides, fostering community development, social identity and local pride. Investment in the arts contributes to the local and regional economy, enhances the built and natural environment and makes Slough a more attractive place to live, work and visit.
Slough Arts Development work closely with local groups using art to facilitate community development. A key part of this is the annual Community Arts Training (CATS) course, held in March each year. The course is free for local groups and artists, and sets out to equip individuals and groups with the necessary skills required for running community arts based activities.
