The council, by law, has to produce a Local Transport Plan (LTP) that sets out how Slough’s transport network and services will be maintained and improved.
The council’s first LTP was published in July 2000 and covered the 5 years from 2001 to 2006.
This has been reviewed and updated and the council published the second LTP for Slough (LTP2) in March 2006 for 5 years from 2006 to 2011. The plan has 4 aims:
A Progress Review was published in 2008 which focused on achievements in the first half of the 5-year LTP2 period. This can be found below, with the comments of the Government Office for the South East.
As LTP2 runs out in March 2011 we have started work on Slough’s third LTP (LTP3). LTP3 will set out the council’s transport strategy for the period up to 2026, with an implementation plan for the 3 years from 2011 to 2014.
We are looking at the transport challenges Slough is likely to face in the next 15 years and options for meeting them. The results of the online questionnaire survey that ended in January 2010 have helped us define objectives for LTP3.
We also work with other organisations, such as Slough Forward - the Local Strategic Partnership, to make sure the new plan reflects wider community priorities.
