Bus & Train Travel Guide

Bus and train services provide quick and easy links to the town centre but also to destinations such as airports, hospitals, schools and rail stations in the Slough area.

Slough Borough Council publishes each year a comprehensive guide to bus and train services in Slough.

A hard copy of the 2008 guide is available at the Town Hall, Customer Service Centre, and libraries.

Times by txt

You can receive the next scheduled departure times from your bus stop by text message! A national system supported by all the main bus operators and run by Traveline. It can be done for most bus stops in the participating regions.  Once you know the code for your stop you can make the enquiry wherever you are.

Most bus stops in Slough have unique codes made up of several letters.  These should appear on the flag attached to the bus stop pole or shelter.  It will also be shown at the top of some timetables. Store the code of your choice in your phone’s memory (as a template). You can then send whenever you need to know the time of the next journey.

Please note the codes relate to a single bus stop and sometimes services use the same stop for both directions of travel. In such cases, care is needed to read the results received.  Abbreviations of the destinations are included in each text message.

You can request times for a specific route by adding a space and then the route number after the code.  For example, text “slgawap 702” to 84268 to find out the times of the next 702 from Slough Bus Station towards London.
 
Make sure you get permission from the person who pays the phone bill. The cost of each text will be 25p plus your network’s normal text sending charge.
