Occupational health services

One of the council's functions is to ensure that workplaces are safe and that employees and people affected by work activities are not exposed to health and safety risks.

Activities include:

• carrying out inspections of workplaces
• offering legal advice to Slough businesses investigating reportable accidents that occur in the workplace
• investigating complaints about unsafe premises or practices ensuring adequate occupation health service provision to Slough businesses and their employees
• working in partnership with Health and Safety Executive; East Berkshire College; Slough Primary Care Trust; business, community and voluntary groups and the other local authorities in Berkshire to ensure access to information and resources which will promote safety, health and well being
