Hazardous waste is waste that contains hazardous properties that may render harmful to human health or the environment and cannot go into your grey bin as normal rubbish or into your red bin for recycling.
The council does not collect hazardous waste, except for certain Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) items as part of the special collections service for large items. Hazardous waste can be collected by providers who are listed in the local telephone directory or internet.
Before using these services, under 'Duty of Care Legislation', businesses and householders should take all reasonable steps to keep waste safe. If waste is passed to someone else, it must be confirmed that they are authorised to take it and can transport, recycle or dispose of it safely. Breaking this law may result in unlimited fines
