The whole High Street has been completely redesigned and revamped - from Windsor Road to Yew Tree Road - and covers both the pedestrian area and roads where traffic is permitted.
A unique entranceway has been created to serve as a gateway to this diverse and vibrant part of the High Street with its mix of independent shops, restaurants and shopping centre.
The area is more welcoming to pedestrians with widened pavements, traffic calming measures, and more greenery added.
A major piece of artwork - The Radar Sculpture - is a central focal point.

The current square has been opened up with the bus stops relocated to one side.
The road is no longer be a priority, sharing the space with pedestrians and allowing the square to span the whole width of the High Street.
Special telescope lighting and bespoke seating gives the area a unique identity and carvings have added interest to the paving.

New trees and catenery lighting brighten this part of the High Street as the black and white granite paving continues.
A special area of paving frames two textured and decorative floor designs in the shape of teardrops which light up at night. And seating means people can stop and watch the lighting glow.
A special light - the Lamplight - marks where the pedestrian area begins.

The Town Square provides an important venue for activities, performances and events.
The new design enhances its use by keeping the square open and flexible.
A colourful granite floor design takes centre stage, providing the ideal platform for future events and the square is framed by new wand lighting and seating.

Granite patterned paving continues up the length of the High Street and new trees have been planted to add year round colour and interest.
New seating has been added and new and interesting lighting will mark where the street changes from pedestrians only to vehicle access.
A specially design under-lit frosted glass area - the Lightbox - will provide interest with seating around so people can rest and watch.

A new green gateway from Yew tree Road into the High Street has been created with major improvements to the Yew Tree Road park.
New planting in the park creates an oasis of calm, with seating so people can pause and enjoy their surroundings.
