Slough has the highest percentage of Sikh residents in the country according to the latest national census figures.
Sikh residents make up 9.1 per cent of Slough’s population, more than any other local authority.
Slough also has the highest percentage of Muslim residents (13.4 per cent) and Hindu residents (4.5 per cent) in the South East region.
Although Christians make up the majority of the local population (53.7 per cent) Slough has the lowest percentage in the region.
Slough has one of the highest percentages of cohabiting couples (10.7 per cent) with the borough being ranked at number five in the country.
The borough also has many more people in work than the national average with more than 65% of residents employed.
The health of the town is better than average as well with the percentage of people with ‘long term illness’ or with ‘general health not good’ being below the national figures.
