Make a pledge
Slough Borough Council is committed to making our town cleaner, safer and greener and we want everyone to get involved.
We are making 12 pledges as part of the campaign.
Residents are also being asked to pledge one change in their lifestyles to help make Slough cleaner, safer or greener.
Everyone who pledges has the opportunity to win £150 of vouchers from Stows Cycles or £50 of gardening vouchers for Wexham Nursery.
And you can pledge online - see the 'Do it online' section at the bottom of this page.

Why make a pledge?
Cleaner
- The council currently spends £130,000 a month picking up litter from our streets.
- In the High Street alone, there is more than 250kgs of chewing gum stuck to the pavement.
- Abandoned cars and flytipping attract more environmental crime
Safer
- Last year, 1,429 homes in Slough were burgled - Keeping your home visibly safe and secure will help deter burglars
- Last year, five people were killed and there were 23 serious accidents on Slough’s roads. Observing the speed limit helps save lives
- Last year, there were 2,433 thefts from motor vehicles in the borough. This year, make sure your car doesn’t join those statistics
Greener
- Last year, more rubbish than ever was collected and taken to landfill – 13 more truckloads than the previous year. Every item recycled is another bit of rubbish not being left to rot in the ground.
- An energy saving light bulb could save you £35 in running costs over its lifetime when compared to a normal light bulb, and lasts on average 8,000 hours.
- Insulating your home could save you more than £150 a year on your energy bills.
- Slough has 42 parks and open spaces – from small neighbourhood parks and play areas to the largest park in the area, Upton Court Park.
- Every week, 150million carrier bags are used in the UK. The majority go to landfill sites where they take more than 100 years to decompose.
