The floor design, carved out of coloured granite creates a central focus for the Town Square.
It incorporates designs developed by artist Bhajan Hunjan, through workshops with Fusion, a local dance company for young people.
The design draws on Slough’s historical, agricultural and horticultural past: the overall circular shape represents the discovery of Uranus by William Herschel, who lived in Slough; the apple shape reflects the Cox's Orange Pippin apple first grown in Colnbrook in 1830; the carnation is Mrs Simkin’s Pink grown in Slough in 1870’s.
