Slough Borough Council will be providing free school meals for children of families on low income to ensure they have access to healthy food at school.
The free school meals are offered to children of families who are in receipt of income support or income based job seekers allowance, support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, guarantee element of state pension credit or child tax credit.
If you have a yearly income of less than £14,495 and are not in receipt of working tax credit, then your child(ren) are entitled to free school meals. (From April 6 2008, this figure will increase to £15,575).
If you think you qualify for free school meals, you will need to complete and return a 'free school meals' application form, including the appropriate proof of eligibility, to your child's school.
Your school will inform you as to whether your application is successful.
