Free school meals

Slough Borough Council will give free school meals for children of families on low income to make sure they have access to healthy food at school.

The free school meals are offered to children of families who receive:

• Income Support
• Income Based Jobseeker Allowance (IBJSA)
• Employment & Support Allowance (Income Related) (ESA(IR))
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• Child Tax Credit (TC602) - If you have a yearly income of less than £16,190 (this amount increased on 6 April 2010) and do not get working tax credit, then your child/children are entitled to free school meals
• Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit (M1000 Award Notice)

If you think you qualify for free school meals, you need to complete and return a 'free school meals' application form. These forms should be collected from your child’s school. The school will then inform you if your application is successful or not.
