Below you will find information of the Long Readings Lane Consultation when it was open. Since the consultation closed, the design for the layout of the scheme has been updated to reflect the consultation response received.
A letter was sent in February 2008 to the residents of Long Readings Lane providing reasons for any changes that could not be made from the given responses.
People were asked to give any further comments. We have a September update to these new comments, which can be accessed below. If you want to give your views, email: Transportdevelopment1@slough.gov.uk or call 01753 475111 by Friday, 3 October 2008.
This is your opportunity to have your say. This consultation is to establish a safer routes to school scheme for the new Beechwood School in Britwell and create a new walking and cycling route with improved parking provision.
Beechwood School has been redeveloped resulting in better facilities and a higher intake of pupils. As part of the planning process for the new school, a transport scheme was included as a condition. However, at that time it was not determined what that scheme should be.
Congestion in and around schools in the borough is a real problem with many children now being dropped off by car. This is not only causing problems in terms of delays but more importantly can contribute to casualties around schools if parents and other motorists take risks due to frustration caused by the delays.
In the past three years 13 collisions have occurred on Long Readings Lane and its junctions, this resulted in 15 casualties. Due to this borough wide problem the council’s transport division is proposing to create a safer routes to school project.
