Service Standards

In addition to national standards laid down for building control we have our own service promise in which we aim to:

• give you free advice and help when you are preparing to submit a buildings regulations application to us
• check your full plans application and give you initial comments within 3 weeks
• register and process your building notice application within 10 days
• provide you with a comprehensive site inspection plan within 4 days of receipt of an application (this tells you what items of work we need to inspect)
• respond to requests to carry out a site visit on the same day if we receive notification by 9.45am that day (Monday to Friday)
• issue a site progress report following each site visit
• issue you with a free completion certificate when you finish the work
• issue licences for scaffolding or hoardings within 5 working days
• be polite and courteous to you at all times
