The main sources of air pollution in the UK are due to transport and industry.
Slough Borough Council has a legal responsibility to keep a register of all industrial processes in the local area which could potentially cause pollution. These industrial processes come under the control of either the Environment Agency or Slough Borough Council.
Part A Processes are those which have the capacity to pollute water and land as well as air, and these processes come under the control of The Environment Agency.
Part B Processes are those with a lesser potential for polluting emissions, and only the emissions to the air are regulated. Some examples are respraying of vehicles and crematoria. The control of these processes is the responsibility of Slough Borough Council and industries which use these processes must get authorisation.
