Free 'Citizencard' proof of age card for young people in Slough
In 2005 Slough Trading Standards Service introduced a voluntary proof of age card scheme to help Slough retailers to accurately determine a young person’s age when selling age restricted products.
The Service has been working with local secondary schools so that a 'Citizencard' can be provided free of charge to 16 to 18 year olds.
The 'Citizencard' carries a full passport style photograph, name and date of birth, together with the cardholder’s signature, all thermally imaged onto the plastic card for security. It is a PASS accredited scheme accepted throughout the UK. A young person having the card would not have to carry another form of I.D such as a passport or driving licence in order to prove their age.
If you are aged between 16 and 18 years old and attend a school in Slough and you would like to apply for a free 'Citizencard', then please contact Slough Trading Standards on 01753-875255.
