School crossing patrols (SCP) are a familiar sight, there to help keep children safe as they cross to and from school.
There are 7 SCPs working across the Slough Borough. SCPs work at certain schools, where it has been recognised that the road is very busy and so the children need extra help to cross the road.
SCPs are able to cross adults as well as children. All drivers or riders must stop when the SCP is on the road showing the 'lollipop' stop sign. The stop sign should be trated the same as a red light would be. Anyone who fails to stop will be prosecuted.
All of Slough's SCPs are paid employees and are fully trained by the council. Anyone can be trained to be a SCP, no qualifications or previous experience are needed.
If you think there is a need for an SCP outside your child's school, please contact the school to request a SCP. The school can make a written request for a site to be assessed.
If you would like to be a SCP please refer to the Slough Borough Council jobs listing for any available vacancies or to the local press publications.
