A new agenda set by the government called personalisation is being rolled out across the country.
Personalisation means every person who get support, whether funded through Slough Borough Council or by themselves, will have choice and control over the care they receive. Personalisation is about putting you first and improving social care.
You will have choice and control over how the support is given and by whom.
You will have more control to choose the type of care support you need to meet your needs. You will have more choice of a variety of services that are tailored to your needs. For example instead of picking your support from a virtual shopping list that is provided by the council you will now be able to decide what you want and then ask for it. So instead of attending a day centre once a week, you could ask for help to go on a walk to the country side once a week.
Your imagination is the only limit. The support is tailored to meet your social care needs. You will need to state at the time of your assessment what your ideas are. For example you may wish to employ a personal assistant to meet your personal care needs or to accompany you to a restaurant or pub for a meal or to a visit to the library.
