“Britain’s Boomtown” Slough, as named by the Observer, is home to the Slough Trading Estate, Europe’s largest privately owned business park. It is:

• less than 25 minutes from Heathrow
• a 20 minute train journey away from central London
• and sits in the heart of the M4 corridor

Slough’s impressive facilities and infrastructure makes it the first choice for more than 4000 organisations. It provides nearly 82,000 jobs. World class brands have chosen to locate their European HQs in Slough, a few include:

We’re also a launch pad for new entrepreneurs. The town is home to an estimated 3,500 small businesses. All with the potential and ambition to grow, flourish and add to Slough’s £2.5 billion economy.

This year Slough embarks on perhaps the most exciting period in its history, as a range of initiatives promise to revitalise the town:

• Slough Estates Group (SEGRO), owners of the trading estate, launched a 20 year master plan to capitalise on its position as a facility fit for the 21st century
• Art at the Centre brings the work of some of the world’s most innovative artists onto the High Street, complementing the developments and improvements being introduced by our local retailers and shopping centres
• Heart of Slough, a £400 million partnership project to develop new residential, office, hotel and civic facilities will create landmark buildings and a sustainable transport infrastructure in the centre of the town

Local businesses, the council and voluntary sector organisations work closely together on various initiatives. These range from a campaign to identify and develop the skills needed by local employers, to the Slough Community Business Partnership. This partnership is an initiative which helps organisations support their corporate social responsibility priorities by giving practical help to those community groups who need it most.

The summer of 2008, saw the launch of a partnership to change people’s perceptions of Slough. ‘Proud to be Slough’ celebrates all that is great about the town and emphasises Slough’s position as a great place to live, work, visit and invest.
