Have your say on what spots Community Payback offenders should be tackling.
Slough Borough Council and Thames Valley Probation have chosen five grot spots across Slough – and you can vote for the one you’d like done first.
The details of each grotspot are below. Once you have chosen which grot spot should be cleared up first, log your choice through our consultation portal. Or you can email payback.slough@slough.gov.uk or call 0845 605 2222.
Closing date for choosing is 24 April, 2009.
69 Meadfield Road, Langley (access map)
69 Meadfield Road is a corner plot with Mead Avenue.
The house, owned by People 1st, has been unoccupied for some time and the gardens have become the local rubbish tip with mattresses, old chairs, other furniture and even old oil barrels being dumped.
Offenders will clear the rubbish and tackle the overgrown trees and shrubs. They’ll clear the paths and make the whole garden look tidy, which will mean the house can be re-let earlier.
Lerwick Drive and Ronaldsay Spur alleyways (access map)
Two alleyways in Lerwick Drive and Ronaldsay Spur are used for fly-tipping and there’s now an unsightly heap of rubbish, clearly visible to all residents and to visitors to the nearby Manor Park Medical Centre.
Offenders will clear all the rubbish and weed the ground and verges, so the alleyways can be used by local residents again.
Wasteland on Moray Drive (access map)
On Moray Drive, near the Wexham Road, there’s an area of wasteland, which has been earmarked for a mobile youth centre during the school holidays.
Before that can happen, the whole area needs to be cleared of rubbish and tidied up. Offenders will clear the site, cut back the brambles and weed the area so the youth centre plans can go ahead.
Wentworth Garages, Britwell (access map)
Wentworth Avenue garages are not in a good way. The paint’s peeling, the garages are dirty, the gutters are blocked and weeds are growing up through the cracks in the ground.
Nearby, walls are covered in graffiti and the whole area looks run-down and tired. Offenders will be sent to strip down and repaint the 27 garage doors and fascias, remove the weeds and paint over the graffiti.
Westfield Estate, Colnbrook (access map)
Just off Severn Crescent, on the Westfield Estate, is an area of wasteland.
It’s privately owned and earmarked for development in the future but, for now, it’s an eyesore that’s clearly visible from Severn Crescent and from Sutton Lane.
The area is popular for fly-tipping and offenders will clear the rubbish, cut back brambles and pull up weeds, resulting in a clear views for everyone in the Colnbrook area.
