Short break activities
As part of our programme to improve Short Break services in Slough we look for organisations to provide activities and holiday schemes for disabled children and young people during this financial year.
We now have government funding to provide these activities. Please refer to the 3 documents below which includes:
- more information on the eligibility criteria
- a letter outlining requirements and;
- an application form for funding
To qualify for funding for the activities that you provide you must:
- meet the Aiming High criteria
- be prepared to run activities between 1 July 2010 and 31 March 2011
- the activities you give must be considered as short breaks to qualify for funding
The children and young people must be in at least one of the following five categories:
- children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who may also have other impairments such as severe learning disabilities or have behaviour that is challenging
- children and young people with complex health needs, this includes those with disability and life limiting conditions and with other impairments, e.g. physical, cognitive and/or sensory impairments
- children and young people aged 11 plus with moving and handling needs who need equipment and adaptations, e.g. physical impairments and possibly cognitive and/or sensory impairments
- children and young people where challenging behaviour is associated with other impairments, e.g. severe learning disability
- young people aged 14 plus who are severely disabled and need services that are age appropriate
- disabled children under 5 years old
To qualify for funding you must:
- be willing to work collectively with other groups
- be a properly constituted group running a structured programme of activities
- show the planned capacity and age groups that for your scheme can cater for
- provide evidence of expenditure and other funding
- meet all statutory and legal requirements
- make sure that all staff over 16 have a current CRB clearance
- have appropriate registration (e.g. OfSTED, Care Quality Commission or be on the voluntary childcare register - help with registration can be provided)
- have, if required, appropriate employer's liability, public liability and professional indemnity insurance
Also, you would need to let us know:
- what specific support/training you would need from outside agencies
- how you will advertise your scheme and if you will provide transport
- what you charge and what it includes
