Slough Borough Council adopted its Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD) at Full Council on the 30th November 2010. The Site Allocations DPD forms part of Slough’s Local Development Framework (LDF).
The principal purpose of the Site Allocations Document is to identify future sites within Slough that will implement the Vision and Spatial Strategy of the Core Strategy (adopted December 2008). The Site Allocations DPD endorses Site Specific Allocations for development, open space and biodiversity, and Selected Key Locations for regeneration.
The Site Allocations DPD was considered by Robert Neil Parry, an Independent Inspector, at an Examination in Public held between 15th and 18th June 2010. The Inspector found the Site Allocations DPD to be sound subject to a number of changes. The Inspector’s Report, with its recommendations, was published on 31st August 2010. The adopted Site Allocations DPD incorporates the binding recommendations of the Inspector.
Any person aggrieved by the Site Allocations DPD may make an application to the High Court under section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on the grounds that:
(a) the document is not within the appropriate power;
(b) a procedural requirement has not been complied with.
An application must be made promptly, and in any event, no later than the end of the period of six weeks of the date of the adoption of this Site Allocations DPD, i.e. by 11th January 2011
Copies of this Adoption Statement, the Site Allocations DPD, the Inspector’s Report, the final Sustainability Appraisal Report and the Site Allocations Submission documents are available for public inspection, free of charge, at:

The Site Allocations DPD follows on from and is linked to the Slough Core Strategy (that sets out the overarching planning policy framework for Slough). The principal purpose of the Site Allocations Document is to identify future sites within Slough that will implement the Vision and Spatial Strategy of the Core Strategy. The Site Allocations DPD endorses Site Specific Allocations for development, open space and biodiversity, and Selected Key Locations for regeneration. A Sustainability Appraisal Report accompanies the Site Allocations DPD.
The inclusion of a site in the adopted Site Allocations DPD means that the council in principle supports any development or use that is in accordance with the DPD. In practise this means that any planning application that complies with the Site Planning Requirements will be approved unless the details of the scheme are unacceptable. Conversely any planning applications that conflict with the uses sought may be refused.
The allocation of a site in this document does not mean the council will implement it. In most cases proposals will be brought forward and carried out by the private sector. The council may however use its compulsory purchase powers where it is in the public interest to assemble land or bring forward development.
The Site Allocations DPD was produced in accordance with Planning Regulations and Guidance. More information on the stages prior to adoption is available below.
Slough Borough Council is committed to achieving sustainable development by placing the principles that underpin it at the centre of its activities. Sustainable development in Slough is defined as that which achieves and maintains an acceptable quality of life for all and which is socially desirable, environmentally sustainable and economically viable now and in the future.
The Site Allocations process has been accompanied by the necessary sustainability appraisals, the findings of which are presented in separate reports. This process has identified any major social, economic and environmental issues related to the site allocations and proposed re-zonings, and been taken into account in our decision making process.
