Local planning authorities are required to carry out a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) to assess potential sites for future housing development. The primary role of the SHLAA is to:
In accordance with Planning Policy Statement 3 (Housing) the council has published a SHLAA to help determine whether there is a 5 year supply of housing sites on deliverable sites and a rolling supply of developable sites for the longer term.
Slough’s SHLAA was publshed on 31 March 2010. The base date for the SHLAA is April 2009 and where available updated information has been used. However the 5 year supply will be reviewed annually in the AMR.
The SHLAA review concludes there is an adequate supply of housing land up to 2026 to meet the requirements in the Core Strategy and the South East Plan.
Please note: the SHLAA has been carried out independently of the allocation of sites through the LDF process and the identification of any site in this study does not necessarily mean that planning permission for residential development will be granted or it will be allocated for housing in future development plans. Conversely, the non-inclusion of a site does not necessarily mean it would not be considered for allocation in future plans or receive planning permission for residential development.
