The Decent Homes Programme is a government initiative which seeks to update, where needed, all council properties to meet the Decent Homes Standard. The decent homes criteria can be found below.
The Decent Homes team have carried out surveys on properties that have not yet had any internal upgrades. As a result programmes of works including door replacement, internal upgrades and heating upgrades have been set. The contract for the Door Programme has been awarded to Astraseal who have started pre-work surveys across Slough and are expected to start installations by the start of 2012.
The Decent Homes team is also close to awarding the contract for the Heating Programme for 2012. This includes boiler, full central heating upgrades, rewires and separate WC refurbishments. Pre-works surveys for this are expected to start in December 2011.
The Internal Programme of works for kitchens and bathrooms is out for tender. Works for this programme should start in January 2012.
Other works coming in the near future include:
Please note: works will only be carried out where needed to make sure a property meets minimum decency standards. This may include updating one or more components within or around your property.
Although every tenanted property has or will be surveyed, please note, not all properties will receive improvements. Some that are already deemed 'decent' will not receive any internal works until future years. Not every tenant will receive an upgraded kitchen and bathroom on the current programme.
