What should I do if I want to place my cat or dog in boarding accommodation?
Before booking a cat or dog into boarding accommodation it may be worthwhile to visit more than one establishment as some catteries/kennels may suit the needs or temperament of your cat/dog better than others. All animals must be up to date in terms of vaccinations before being accepted at a boarding establishment and proof of such will need to be provided to the proprietor upon arrival.
Do I need a licence to run an animal boarding house?
The Animal Boarding Establishment Act 1963 requires any person who keeps a boarding establishment for cats and/or dogs to be licensed by the Local Authority.
What animals does the animal boarding establishment licence apply to?
The Animal Boarding Establishment Act 1963 requires any person who keeps a boarding establishment for cats and/or dogs to be licensed by the Local Authority.
What will the licensing authority inspect at my animal boarding establishment?
The aim of the licensing requirements is to achieve certain standards in the management of the accommodation and to ensure precautions against disease and fire. This is done by attaching relevant conditions of licence to ensure that animals are kept in suitable accommodation.
