Can I trade on the street?
Street trading within the borough of Slough is governed by the Local Government (Miscellaneous provisions) Act 1982. Under this act the council is able to control where, when and how street trading takes place in the borough.
All streets within the borough are consent streets and the council has designated only certain streets where static street trading can take place and where a consent is required.
Mobile traders can operate throughout the borough but are limited to being stationary for a maximum of 20 minutes at any one location.
Are there any exemptions for street trading consents?
Yes. There are certain exemptions under the act where a street trading consent is not required. Full details can be obtained from the licensing team: licensing@slough.gov.uk or 01753 875252.
Do I need a licence if I want to have a household junk sale?
If this is totally within your property borders, and not a regular event, you do not need a consent. If you use the pavement, then this may be viewed as obstruction of the highway.
