Can I obtain some advice about memorials?

Many people feel the need for a more tangible link with their loved ones and an extensive range of personal memorials are available, including:

• Entry in the Book of Remembrance
• Miniature Replica Books of Remembrance
• Inscribed Granite Memorial Plaques
• Inscribed Posy Vases
• Inscribed Yorkshire Paving Stones
• Memorial Wall Plaques

What type of cremation memorial is available?

Details of available memorials are sent to the applicant a week or two after the cremation has taken place. There are various options for memorials available:

• Books of Remembrance. Displayed in a purpose-built cabinet, offer a dignified memorial in perpetuity. The Books have a separate page for each day and can be viewed 365 days a year. There are also Miniature Books and Memorial Cards that can be purchased as a personal keepsake or sent to those who live abroad and cannot see the original entry.
• Granite Memorial Plaques. A memorial desk with an inscribed plaque can be purchased and placed along the lawn edge in the Garden of Remembrance. There is provision with these memorials to place floral tributes. The plaque is initially for 10 years, but this can be extended if desired.
• Miniature Granite Memorial Plaques. The same as above but situated around the shrub beds in the Garden of Remembrance. There is provision with these memorials to place floral tributes. The plaque is initially for 10 years, but this can be extended if desired.
• Memorial Wall Plaques. These are situated in the Book of Remembrance hallway and floral tributes may be placed below. These memorials are available for a 5 year dedication period, but this can be extended.
• Memorial Posy Vases. Are situated either side in the Book of Remembrance Chapel and bear a small inscription. These memorials are available for a 5year dedication period, but this can be extended.
• Memorial Garden Seats. These are supplied with a plaque bearing the inscription of your choice and placed in a suitable location within the grounds of the Cemetery & Crematorium. They have a 10 year dedication period that can be extended.

Do we need the grave owner’s permission to re-open a grave for burial and/or put a headstone or additional inscription on it?

The current Deed of Grant holder will need to sign for all memorial work.
