My child has been excluded from school, what can I do?
Initially, you should contact the head teacher of the school and try to resolve the situation. If this is not possible, then you can write to the chair of governors of the school. You can also contact Ace (Advisory Centre for Education) for further advice and help. Further information can be obtained from their website at: www.ace-ed.org.uk, or you can phone on 0808 8000327.
How can I appeal against a permanent exclusion?
If your child is permanently excluded from their school you have the right of appeal to an independent panel.
You only have 15 school days in which to lodge your appeal from the date you receive notification from the school that the exclusion has been confirmed.
You will need to complete an Exclusion Appeal Form which will be sent to you upon request, along with an explanatory leaflet, when you call 01753 875013 .
