What do I do if I have a concern about a child, or I'm worried a child is being abused?
If you are concerned about the immediate safety of a child you should call the police using 999.
Otherwise, you should contact the Children & Families Team at Social Services on 01753 690400 and explain that you are phoning because you are concerned about a child. When making contact you should be prepared to give as much information as possible about what your concern is, and be able to give other pertinent details (e.g. names, dates of birth, addresses, etc) if possible.
If you need to contact us outside of office hours, that is anytime from 5pm to 9am, you should contact the Social Services Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on 01344 786543. It is possible when you phone this number that you will get an answer phone therefore you will need to clearly state that you have a concern about a child and leave your contact details, so someone can get back in touch with you.
