What is your policy on inclusion for travellers' children at school?
The policy on inclusion for children in school is based on equality for all children regardless of their ability, achievement, background, special educational needs, gender, ethnicity or religion.
What is the council's approach to special schools?
Although the council does have specials schools we try to send children to a mainstream school unless there is likely to be an adverse affect on either the child or other children in the school.
What training is available for teachers who are teaching children from the traveller/Gypsy community?

I'm a traveller, do I have to send my child to school?
There is a statutory responsibility for both parents and the council to provide appropriate education for children between the ages of 5 to 16. It is the parents responsibility to ensure their children attend school and it is the councils responsibility to provide a place in a school of the parents choice where possible.
I'm a traveller, what happens if I don’t send my child to school?
If you do not send your child to school then you could be prosecuted and subject to a fine or even a jail term.
