What types of student bus pass are available?
There are 2 types of student bus pass: under and over 16s.How do I apply for an under 16 student bus pass?
You need to complete an application form obtained from the education department. Telephone (01753) 875729 or email edhelp@slough.gov.uk.
If the application is for travel to a denominational school, you must fill in a certificate (part of the application pack) and have it signed by your religious leader.
Your pass will then be issued, once processed, by the educational establishment at which you attend study.
How do I apply for an over 16 student bus pass?
Contact us on 01753 875729 for an application form. You need to be between 16 and 19 to qualify.
Passes are funded by Learning and Skills council on a first-come, first-served basis and there are a limited number.
You will need a passport photograph to accompany the completed application form. Your pass will then be issued, once processed, by the educational establishment at which you attend study.
If my child has a statement of special educational needs, will they be provided with transport to school?
Some children with statements of special educational needs may qualify for free transport in accordance with Slough Borough Council’s published transport policy.
The conditions for providing free transport are the same as for any other pupil living in the borough unless they have a medical or physical condition that prevents them walking or using public transport or are considered vulnerable or at risk by the Assessment and Review Team if they were to walk or use public transport. In general, it is the responsibility of their parents or carers to make arrangements for their children’s safe travel to and from school.

Is there any cost associated with a student bus pass?
No, bus passes are issued free, however there are a limited number of these available and they are on a first-come, first-served basis.
