I have nowhere to live - I slept out on the street last night?
Come and talk to a housing advisor in the Customer Service Centre. We will try to get you back to your home if it is safe and available or advise you about how to find somewhere else to live. We can also put you in touch with other agencies who can help you .
I have nowhere to live - my partner asked me to leave our home?
You may have rights to the home as well, you can talk to a solicitor who will advise you or come in to the Customer Service Centre to see a housing advisor.
I want to find my own place to live?
There are a number of lettings agents in the town who may have property suitable for you. We also have details of local landlords who have property to let, but these are only offered to people who have been agreed under the supported tenancy scheme.
Your housing officer can tell you more about this.
I want to find my own place but I can't afford the rent or the deposit?
If you are on a low income you may be entitled to housing benefit, a Customer Service Centre Advisor can help you with that.
I have got nowhere to live- my friends/family won't let me stay anymore?
The housing advice service may be able to help. We can offer independent mediation and a range of other options to help you resolve the difficulty.
I have to leave my current home - its in bad disrepair and has no hot water?
You shouldn’t leave your home. The private sector housing team can arrange for repairs to be done by your landlord.
If the landlord wont do them we can prosecute and help you to find another home.
I have to leave my current home - I can't afford to pay the rent?
Talk to your landlord and let him or her know you are going to try to sort it out. The housing advice service can help you by checking that you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to, or by helping you to make an agreement with your landlord to repay the arrears and stay in your home.
I have nowhere to live - my tenancy runs out soon?
Ask your landlord if it can be renewed .
You do not have to leave your home when it runs out as you are entitled to notice often as long as two months and then you do not have to leave until your landlord has a court order.
This can give you enough time to find somewhere else to live.
I have nowhere to live - my landlord has thrown me out?
Your landlord may have broken the law and you can call the police who can help you get back in your home.
You can also come in to the Customer Service Centre to see a housing advisor. We may be able to get you back in and may be able to prosecute your landlord for unlawful eviction.
I have nowhere to live - my landlord has given me notice?
The housing advisors can let you know what your legal rights are, negotiate with your landlord to let you stay and or give you information about how to find somewhere else to live.
I have nowhere to live - I 'm going to be evicted because of rent arrears?
The housing advice service may be able to help. We can offer independent mediation and a range of other options to help you resolve the difficulty.
I have nowhere to live - I have just come out of hospital?
Talk to the hospital social work team or the ward manager and let them know. They can arrange an appointment to see a housing advisor, or you can call in to the Customer Service Centre to see a housing advisor.
I have nowhere to live - I have just come back to Slough after being released from prison?
The housing advice service may be able to help you by arranging nominations and referrals to a range of landlords with shared facility housing to offer. You may also be eligible for the supported tenancy rent deposit scheme.
I have nowhere to live - I have been just been discharged from the army?
The housing advice service can put you in touch with landlords or shared ownership schemes depending which you may be able to afford if you had a lump sum on leaving the forces.
I have nowhere to live - I can't go home because of violence/harassment?
The person who is violent or harassing you is breaking the law. You can contact the police or a housing advisor at the Customer Service Centre.
How do I get a place at the YMCA or the Foyer?
You can approach them direct or we can nominate you through the housing register. You can join the housing register if you are 16 or over.
