I am a key worker, can I apply to the Council for key worker accommodation?
You must register with Keystart, you can do this online on the Key Worker Living website or by calling 0845 6017729.
Can I choose to live outside of Slough ?
Please contact the Local Authority where you would like to live. Most have an open waiting list. Contact details for all local Authorities near Slough can be found on our my council page by selecting the appropriate authority.
Alternatively, contact details for all Local Authorities can be obtained by visiting the Tagish website. You can then select the appropriate authority on the page.
How do I join the Housing Register?
You can download the Housing Application form page. Or you can call into the Customer Service Centre or Britwell Talk Shop for an application pack. Alternatively, we can send you a pack through the post if you call 01753 875592.
Who can apply for Housing ?
All applicants must complete a Housing Application Form. The form can be obtained at the housing application page or by contacting the Customer Service Centre or Britwell Talk Shop. We can also send you a copy, if you contact 01753 875592.
The form must be returned to the address detailed, please ensure you include all documentation asked for to process your application. Failure to include the necessary documents will result in a delay in your application being registered.
I am interested in shared ownership schemes, can the Council help me?
You will need to complete to a Slough Housing Application Form, you can register your interest in shared ownership on the form. Further details can be found on our shared ownership pages.

How do I apply for Housing?
All applicants must complete a Housing Application Form. The form can be obtained from our housing application form page, or by contacting the Customer Service Centre or Britwell Talk Shop.

Failure to include the necessary documents will result in a delay in your application being registered.
You have offered me a home, can I move in immediately?
We will arrange for you to view the property and then give you an estimated time when the property will be ready for you to move in.
You have taken me off the housing register because I did not renew my application, will my date of application be the same or will I have to start again?
You must renew your application each year. This will automatically be sent to you. This will be followed by a reminder letter. Failure to respond means your application will be cancelled and you will need to reapply. Your application date will be changed to the date of your late application.
I think I have been put in the wrong band for my housing application, what can I do?
Your letter confirming registration will tell you what band we have placed your application in.
Compare your circumstances with the information about bands in the booklet called ' Housing in Slough - a useful guide to your application'. If you feel it is wrong ring your housing officer.
I have seen a property that will particularly suit my family's needs, can I be considered?
Only if you are at the top of the band the property is going to. If you tell us where you want to be housed the type of property or landlord we will only offer you properties that match your request.
I have rent arrears can I still get an offer of a house?
If you are a Council or Housing Association tenant and owe rent on a current or previous tenancy you will only be considered for an offer if you have maintained a six month agreement to clear the debt.
I have had a baby, do you need to know for my housing application?
Yes, we need a copy of the baby's birth certificate to update your application.
I am on the Housing Register and have moved to other accommodation - do I need to let you know?
Yes, you must complete another Housing Application Form, your application will be reassessed.
How quickly will my housing application be processed?
As long as you fully complete the application form and provide the essential information about identification, where you live and immigration status, we aim to process your application within 10 days of receipt.
Registration will be delayed if you do not fully complete the form or provide the required proofs.
How long will I have to wait for an offer of a house?
If you choose areas where there are lots of vacancies, and any type of property or landlord we will be able to help you more quickly. We can also estimate the number of properties that will be given to each band each year by bedroom size, so we can tell you on average how long you will have to wait.
Can I choose where I want to be housed?
You can select any areas of Slough and the property type and whether the landlord is the Council or a Housing Association. Information is available to help you choose where you want to live.
You can also approach other local authorities to join their lists. You should remember however that the more you restrict your choice, the longer you may have to wait.
