What is regeneration?
Regeneration refers to a process of raising the quality of life in an area which has suffered deprivation and decline over a period of years.
What is neighbourhood renewal?
Our Neighbourhood Renewal agenda focuses on regenerating areas suffering from deprivation and decline with the aim to raise the quality of life in these neighbourhoods and making all parts of Slough a much nicer place to live and work.
What areas of the borough are being regenerated at the moment?
The Town Centre and Britwell are currently being regenerated.
How can I find out what regeneration is going on in my area?

How does Slough select the areas that will be regenerated?
Decisions are based on analysis on the Index of Multiple Deprivation.
What is the council doing to reduce unemployment?
A number of initiatives are currently being pursued to address the basic skills needs of the various communities.
Particular projects such as Aurat Enterprise and the Enterprise Centre provide advice and training for those individuals who want to up skill and re-enter the job market.

Our local business portal provides access and information on all contracts and tenders that the Council intend to procure.
How can I get involved in neighbourhood renewal?
Yes there is, Community Involvement Week was an opportunity for you to find out how you can improve life in Slough.
Slough Focus is a partnership that brings together the main public service providers, voluntary, community and private sectors of the town (such as Slough Borough Council, Thames Valley Police, Primary Care Trust, Job Centre Plus, Business Community Partnership, Slough Council for Voluntary Service and others). These organisations work together to improve your quality of life.
Where can I get information about getting a job?
Your local Job Centre Plus will provide a list of vacancies in the area, they are located at Yew Tree Road, Slough.
You can also register with the various employment agencies in Slough High Street.

Are there meetings I can attend to have my say on community development?
Most meetings are held at the Town Hall in the evening.
Full council meetings and planning committees generally start at 7pm.
Other meetings generally start at 6.30pm.
Copies of the agenda are available on the night in the meeting room. You can ask for one in advance by contacting committee & member services on 01753 875317 or e-mailing councillors@slough.gov.uk. They are available about ten days before each meeting.

The vast majority of council business is conducted in public. However, sometimes items about individuals or commercially sensitive matters are considered confidential and you may be asked to leave for these items.
