Is there a refuse site where I can discard items I do not want?
There are 3 household waste and recycling sites available in Slough and all can used by Slough residents:
These sites can be used to dispose of domestic waste that cannot be included in your normal domestic collection.
The maximum vehicle height at Chalvey is set at 5ft 9inches (1.75 metres), although users should check before using. The barrier is high enough to let cars into the site but low enough to prevent large trade vehicles.
Residents with people carriers and domestic van users can still use the site (except Sundays). Drivers should report to the weighbridge where vehicles are inspected to ensure that only domestic waste is being tipped. Large quantities of DIY waste will be treated as trade waste.
Details for the Burnham and Langley sites are on the Buckinghamshire County Council website.
Chalvey opening times are 7 days a week, from 8am to 6.45pm in the summer and 8am to 5.45pm in winter. Please note: the trade site is closed on Sundays. Please check times before travelling, by ringing 01753 518555.
What is domestic or household waste?
Domestic or household waste is that which has come from a domestic premises, but it excludes, amongst others, bricks, soil and rubble, any DIY material such as old tiles, sinks, baths, toilets, old plaster, large pieces of timber, doors, window frames, fence panels and old sheds. Unusually large quantities of any material or substance will normally be rejected from a site as it is likely to have resulted from commercial activity.
Up to two car tyres per resident may be disposed of, but numbers greater than this will be considered to be trade waste without supporting documentation of special circumstances.
