When will my red recycling bin be emptied?
Red bins will be emptied weekly on the same day as your refuse. Please place the red bin next to your refuse bin, at the boundary of your property before 7am on collection day.
Please take your bins back in as soon as possible.
The lid of my red bin will not close properly, what shall I do?
Because of the way the bins have been stored sometimes the lid can be misshapen at first. Don't worry, the lid will return to its normal shape in a few days.
Why is recycling important?
Recycling helps save energy and natural resources. By recycling you are helping the UK save 10-15 million tonnes of greenhouse gas a year. This has the same impact as taking 3.5 million cars off the road.
I need further information about recycling?
For futher information call 0800 6346301 or email recycling@slough.gov.uk
What size are the red bins?
The majority of residents will receive a standard size red wheelie bin. This is the same size as a standard refuse bin (240 litres)
Smaller red wheelie bins (140 litres) will automatically be delivered to many of the properties in central Slough or where we have identified that there may be limited storage.
If you wish to request a smaller red wheelie bin for your property please email recycling@slough.gov.uk or call Enterprise on 0800 6346301.
The red wheelie bins do not contain microchips.
Why can't I put shredded paper in my red bin?
Our recycling is sorted at the Materials Recovery Facility in Colnbrook. This facility uses machines and hand sorting to sort the materials by their size and shape. Shredded paper is not easily sorted by the machines, it blocks working parts and reduces the plants ability to sort the glass.
Please dispose of shredded paper in the grey refuse bin. Or you can place shredded paper in a home compost bin. This helps provide aeration and stops your mixture becoming too wet. Please visit the recycle now website to find out about our reduced price compost bins.
Shredded paper can not be placed in the green bin.
