If the marriage was in a Register Office, or was a long time ago in a church or temple or building which has filled that register, then you may get a copy from the Register Office for that district.
However, if the marriage was more recent, then the Register Office will not have a deposited register from the church, and then the only local place to get your certificate will be the church or temple etc.
Some churches take a long time to fill their registers, and occasionally even marriages from a long time ago will still only be held by the church. In extreme cases, the original register from 1837 in still in current use!
If the certificate is one that can be obtained from Slough Registrars Office, then it can be purchased over the phone with a credit card, by coming into the office, or by writing. The current cost is £7 plus an admin charge of 50p.
